Fraudsters often misuse Flipkart’s trusted name to send fake emails, calls, or messages promising unbelievable offers. These are not from official Flipkart channels, but scams designed to steal your money and personal information.


Fraudsters may also create fake social media accounts on X, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. These accounts use fake offers to collect payments or steal your information.

    • May have names and internet addresses (URLs) using the word ‘Flipkart’ in them o Examples include flipkart-bigbillion-deals.com, flipkart.biz and randomized URLs such as offernoffer.xyz
    • None of these are authorized by Flipkart
    • Some fake websites may ask you to pay through a UPI QR code, personal UPI ID, or personal bank account instead of a legitimate payment gateway
  • Fake Messages
    • Fraudsters use popular platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, etc.
    • Usually ask for sensitive details like name, mobile number, address, banking details, etc.
    • Ask you to share fraudulent messages to win lucrative prizes like a car or a bike o Offer products at unbelievable prices (e.g. a 32 GB pen-drive for ₹25), leading to fake websites
    • Ask for payments through online wallets or bank transfer for logistics or taxes to get a ‘free gift’ or a ‘prize’
    • Some scams even post fake helpline numbers labelled “Flipkart Care” o Fraudsters may also send malicious APK files through WhatsApp or Telegram. These apps can steal banking credentials, OTPs, contacts and personal data o Never share your OTP, password, PIN, or credit card CVV with anyone claiming to be customer support
    • Official Flipkart Support may be reached only at 044-45614700
  • Fake Calls or SMS to Customers
    • Calls from unknown numbers where the callers may speak English, Hindi, or any other language
    • May lure you with information that you have won ‘free gifts,’ a ‘lucky draw,’ etc. o Fraudsters may also claim to be Flipkart Support and ask you to share your login details, OTP, or install an app
  • Phishing (Fake Emails)
    • Fraudulent attempt to obtain usernames, passwords and credit card details through an email
    • May ask you to visit malicious links to obtain your sensitive details and perform fraudulent transactions
    • They may even compromise your systems with malware/viruses
    • Check the sender’s details and be cautious of emails offering unbelievable discounts
  • Fake Online Games/Websites
    • Scammers ask to play games such as ‘Spin the wheel,’ which promise free gifts and cash prizes
    • These prizes, of course, never materialize
    • To participate, they ask for your personal information, like email ID, address and mobile phone number
    • Fake Social Media Handles and Deepfake Videos
    • Fraudsters may create fake Flipkart accounts on X, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook to run fake offers, collect payments, or steal your data
    • Fake social media handles may use slight misspellings or random numbers in their usernames; check for verified badges before interacting with an account.
    • Fraudsters may also use deepfake videos featuring celebrities, news anchors, or Flipkart executives to promote fake deals or fraudulent schemes

Offline Frauds – Crucial Things to Know

Fake Marketplace Seller Offers

  • Fraudsters may leave pamphlets/inserts with your Flipkart order
  • They may call, pretending to be sellers
  • Ask you to cancel your Flipkart order & re-order directly via them
  • Once you pay them outside Flipkart, you’re unprotected

Fake Letters and Scratch Cards

  • Send scam letters claiming you’ve “won a car/bike”
  • They give you a number or send you to a fake website
  • Usually ask for “registration fees” or “taxes” to claim a prize
  • Flipkart never asks for fees for prizes/games

Fake Job Offers

  • Flipkart never charges for jobs or contracts
  • Scammers post fake ads or demand “commissions” for employment

Fake Flipkart Franchises

  • Fraudsters lure people with “delivery hub” or “franchise” offers with high rent returns
  • Demand upfront fees/registrations
  • Flipkart does not charge fees for franchises

Other Frauds

  • Scam calls/SMS/WhatsApp quoting your recent order number
  • They’ll ask for bank/card details or to install risky apps like AnyDesk
  • Such software takes control of your device
