My name is Sourav Debnath, and I have been a Wishmaster with Flipkart since March 2025. Being a Flipkart Wishmaster has been the most interesting career path for me. This unexpected job not only changed my life, but I also feel proud to be the man of action for Flipkart.
While it looks straight out of a movie, this is my life.
Becoming a Wishmaster
I’ve lived in Bishalgarh, Tripura, my whole life. It’s where my roots are, where my four sisters grew up before getting married, and where I live with my mother. She’s a homemaker who is the primary caretaker of the family, but lately she hasn’t been well. Now, taking care of her is my responsibility.
A year ago, my father passed away. I became the sole earner, a responsibility that felt immense, especially for a guy who had to drop out of college after just two semesters.
My family’s financial situation was a constant weight, and I had no choice but to join the workforce. My first job was as a salesperson. It was a start, but I was always looking for something more.
That’s when I met someone from the Flipkart hub in Bishalgarh. He told me about an opening at Flipkart. The idea of delivering packages seemed simple enough, and the prospect of a regular, on-time salary was exactly what I needed. I joined in March 2025, and instantly, a new path opened up before me.
A New Path, A New Beginning
My life quickly fell into a new rhythm. I’d arrive at the office by 7:30 a.m., receive my packages, sort them, and then head out into the field. I deliver anywhere from 30 to 40 parcels a day.
My delivery area is a sensitive one due to long-standing tensions.
While it is a challenge, I am determined to ensure that customers get their rightful packages. I make that happen the only way I know — with openness and trust. That, and knowing Flipkart ensures safety for us no matter what.
Over time, I have been able to establish a good rapport with families here. It didn’t happen overnight, but by showing respect, patience, and genuine care, I have earned their affection and trust. Today, when I go there I don’t feel like an outsider.
Building Bridges
When I first started, the communication barrier was a huge hurdle, because my mother tongue is Bengali. It was difficult for the customers and me to understand each other. A delivery location could be a few minutes away, but the language barrier would cause delays for me.
I also draw on my past sales experience, where I learned how valuable it is to connect with people. Sometimes, when the delivery address does not have a corresponding accurate location, I go to a shopkeeper I know, or anyone I can find, and ask for their help. I have learnt to be patient, to be persistent, and to build on the connections I have.
Road to a Better Life
My journey with Flipkart has been about more than just delivering packages. It has put me in a better position as well. My financial condition has been smoother since I started this job.
The salary comes on time, and the job offers me the flexibility I need. I can log in and log out more flexibly, and this freedom makes me feel in control of my own life. This job is a stepping stone to my dreams.

I want to ensure my mother’s recovery and see her healthy again. I also want to buy a better bike than the one I have now and a new smartphone.
With my first Big Billion Days event coming up, I’m ready for the challenge. I plan to be as efficient as possible, to get every package to its customer on time, no matter what.
My seniors tell me that my journey has been proof of the fact that when you put your mind to something, no challenge is too big.
I am proud of what I have accomplished, and I am hopeful for what the future holds.
